There’s several well known anti-firearms rights groups that highlight the number of children shot by guns in its anti-gun rights messages. But, there’s the fact that many of that number of those "children" use guns to commit crimes and got themselves shot or killed. Its undeniable that lumped into that group of “children” in a misleading way are those criminal teenagers who are counted as “children," age 13 to 19, in their statistics when they are shot. Many of those “children” are gangbangers or other assorted teenage criminals who do their criminal business with guns just as their adult criminal counterparts who also use guns in the course of their violent crimes do. The teens take their chances in getting hurt or shot in the commission of crimes just as adult do.

One of those “children” sure to be added to their statistics is the 18 year old “child” in Topeka who was shot this last week. He tried committing a home invasion of an occupied residence there. He was shot by the resident, leaving that “child” with very serious wounds as he tried to burglarize the home. Under Kansas Castle Doctrine Law, a person is justified in the use of deadly force when he reasonably believes it is necessary to prevent or terminate illegal entry into a dwelling. That 18 year old “child” should have known better. That attempted burglary and shooting remains under investigation.

Another “child” surely to be added to the list of gun victims was shot in Virginia Beach as he was alleged to have broken into a home. The home’s resident reportedly heard glass breaking. He then found that teenager in the home who was in the middle of a burglary. The home’s occupant had armed himself with a gun and fired at the “child.” The resident believed he needed to defend himself.The teen was hit in the leg. He ran away after being wounded, and asked a bystander for help. Police are looking into whether the teen is connected to previous neighborhood burglaries.

In Riverbank, California, an employee of a gas station overpowered a man who tried to rob him with an AK47 semiautomatic rifle. The “child” accomplice with him was a 16 year old who went into the store with the 20 year old who was armed. There were several employees working at the time. As the armed robber threatened a clerk and demanded the store’s cash, another clerk jumped him and took away the robber’s AK47 and pointed it at him. The clerk who had initially been threatened by the robber’s rifle drew his own gun and the robber who wasn't even old enough to buy himself a beer was captured. The 16 year old got away to the getaway car and drove off with several other teenagers. The teen robber wannabe was captured later and the pair are facing a slew of charges, including robbery, conspiracy, attempted murder, and possession of an assault rifle, for which the mere possession of an unregistered AK47 is illegal in itself in California. The pair would have still faced regular firearms charges for using a gun in the commission of a felony in most other states.

The good news is that there are many other responsible teenagers who are on the right side of the law, know how to safely handle firearms, and are fully capable of defending their own homes with their parent’s guns. And, that’s exactly the case of two Henderson, North Carolina kids in their mid teens who shot a 19 year old “child” named Michael Anthony Henderson, who will be added to the anti-gun rights statistics. He was attempting to burglarize their home last Thursday. He was killed by a blast from a shotgun to his chest from these teens. The police are looking for Henderson’s accomplice pal who fled the scene. No charges are expected to be filed against these two kids who were defending themselves and their parents’ residence.

Across the Country, one of two men who tried to rob a Wendy’s in Savannah, Georgia was killed and the other fled after the botched robbery. Police have a BOLO on Ronnie Holder. (Pictured Below) Its alleged that he tried to rob the fast food restaurant along with the now deceased Willam Clark.

The pair allegedly held a store employee at gunpoint while they attempted the robbery. The employee was leaving the store at closing, but was still inside the door as he was accosted by the pair. The robbers were fleeing the store when the employee drew his gun and killed Clark. Clark was apparently still holding his handgun and some cash in his hands when the police arrived.

Police are actively looking for Ronnie Holder.

Similarly, the night got off to a bad start for Ronald Capers and his co conspirator sidekick as they were alleged to have tried to rob a barbershop Saturday night in Columbia, South Carolina. Capers' buddy was shot by the barber, and was taken to the hospital. Capers ran off when the shooting started, but was captured sometime later. He will be charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of marijuana.

Capers has been charged with armed robbery, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of marijuana. He may be locked up for a long time because of this.

In the Rockies, there’s a check cashing and cigarette store in Aurora, Colorado that has a history of being robbed. It also has a history of would be armed robbers not leaving the store alive. And, that was the case of an armed robber last week who tried to rob the “Smokin Deals On Cigarettes Store” there. When the shooting began, the robber wounded two employees of the store, both of whom are recovering, but the man who owned the store 20 years stopped the robber from committing any more crimes with well placed shots. The store owner also wounded this man’s accomplice. The neighborhood has been gaining a reputation as having an increasing crime rate.

And, in our “Jawbone of an Ass department,” A man in Honolulu is being charged with assaulting people unprovoked with what police believe to be a cow’s thighbone. One person was hit in the head with the weapon and severely injured in a scenario that was right out of the opening scenes of 2001, A Space Odyssey, Three other victims were also injured. That attacker was arrested.
